What You Don't Want to Overlook When Planning on Industrial Development

Construction & Contractors Blog

Industrial development refers to building up industrial complexes and businesses in your area; this might include constructing a new industrial facility or offering incentives for industrial businesses to move to your particular city or state. If you're a developer looking to create an industrial complex in your area, you might be overlooking some very important features that business owners may find important. Note a few of those here so you can ensure you get the most interest when it comes to your proposed industrial complex and development.

Public transportation

Workers in an industrial complex may rely on public transportation to get them to and from the complex itself. When deciding on a location for industrial development, you need to consider if there is adequate public transportation to support the workforce. If buses, trains, subways, and other such transport are not fully supported in the city and suburbs nearby or are notorious for being unreliable, a business owner may realize that their workforce will also be unreliable. Check on the public transportation options or work with a city developer to improve those options as you plan on industrial development or industrial complexes.

Freight transportation

Along with public transportation, you need to consider how easy it is to transport freight in and out of a certain location. Are there nearby airports, shipyards, and freeways? If company owners are not able to get materials into their facility, ship products out quickly and easily, and don't have enough options for shipping items internationally, your new industrial complex may not be very desirable. With many companies operating on a global scale and not just conducting business locally, you need to consider their freight transportation options when developing an industrial complex.

Waste removal and recycling facilities

Most industrial complexes produce a tremendous amount of waste; this can be metal scraps and shavings, shipping materials, industrial oils, and the like. The further a waste removal company needs to travel to dispose of this waste, the more they're likely to charge a facility to remove it. Some facility owners may also want to employ as much recycling as possible. Note the location of waste facilities including landfills, recycling centers, and so on when planning an industrial complex. You might even consider including such a facility at your industrial complex, if possible. This can reduce the cost that other business owners face for waste management and make recycling their waste materials easier, thereby increasing the desirability of your proposed industrial complex.

Building a new granny flat

We needed to get a new granny flat built, as ours was starting to look shabby and had a roof leak we couldn't stem. We knew it would need some upgraded features so that we could start renting it out for extra income. I spent a lot of time researching which features get the best rental returns and how to get the granny flat built as quickly and effortlessly as possible. I read a lot from a lot of online sources and interviewed other home owners who have new granny flats so we could get the best structure built. This blog has tips for people looking to build new granny flats for their home.
